What is a reasonable price for SEO services?

Hi There, Like every other startup founder, my time is very limited, and while I'd love to learn all the intricacies of SEO and work on it daily, my schedule just doesn't allow for it. On the other hand, i understand the value of ranking highly in Google and I definitely don't want to overlook it. That said, I've been working with a developer in India through Upwork on some minor changes to the website (adding an Instagram feed section, new fonts, etc), and I like the work he's done (he also has great reviews). He told me he has someone who works with him who is experienced in SEO, and that it would cost $800/month for the work. Below is how he described the process: "It basically works in the following way : 1. It is an ongoing work. 2. We'll work regularly on our site on different things. 3. Developers and SEO guys, both are included in this work. 4. Work will go for regular 8 hours a day. 5. Output shows in around 4 minimum months as...

Use Power BI to supercharge your SEO

Columnist Chris Liversidge explains how to take advantage of Microsoft’s Power BI (Business Intelligence) rollout to collect and analyze more data than ever before -- and find the SEO performance gaps you didn’t know about. Chris Liversidge on July 26,  2016 at 9:45 am Take advantage of Microsoft’s Power BI (Business Intelligence) rollout in 2016 to collect and analyze more data than ever before and find the SEO performance gaps you didn’t even know about. If you’re not familiar with Microsoft’s Business Intelligence paradigm, then I heartily recommend you take a walk through their promotional material. The most pertinent part for SEOs is the ability to embed Queries in the latest Office 360 suite natively (without requiring Power Query extensions in Excel, for example), allowing advanced capabilities baked into Excel since 2013 to be accessed easily by anyone in your corporation (or client side) on the 360 platform. Microsoft Power BI for SEO Queries are fantasti...

Is Google Testing The Penguin 4.0 Algorithm?

I think we are on the verge of seeing Penguin 4.0 launch soon at Google - I think we are just about there. I know, I know, it's been a while. I have seen some chatter in the industry, on and off chatter, over the past 12 hours or so, that people are noticing some drastic changes with the Google search rankings on and off. It can be nothing, it can be a blip, it can be a different algorithm or it can be people making stuff up - but it also can be Google testing Penguin 4.0 to a limited set of searchers. The folks at WebmasterWorld over the past 12 hours or so have been asking about it: JS Harris, a senior Webmaster World member said: I have a small list of 10 distinct keywords for my site that I check when I wonder if a major update has occurred. The bottom few results on page one generally come and go but the top spots stay immortal. They stay there, that is, until there is a major update. I'm only ever mildly surprised when I see a would be con...

How we fought bad ads in 2015

When ads are good, they connect you to products or services you’re interested in and make it easier to get stuff you want. They also keep a lot of what you love about the web—like news sites or mobile apps—free. But some ads are just plain bad—like ads that carry malware, cover up content you’re trying to see, or promote fake goods. Bad ads can ruin your entire online experience, a problem we take very seriously. That’s why we have a strict set of policies for the kinds of ads businesses can run with Google—and why we’ve invested in sophisticated technology and a global team of 1,000+ people dedicated to fighting bad ads. Last year alone we disabled more than 780 million ads for violating our policies—a number that's increased over the years thanks to new protections we've put in place. If you spent one second looking at each of these ads, it’d take you nearly 25 years to see them all! Here are some of the top areas we focused on in our fight against bad ...

Google Search Analytics Report Data Missing; Google Working On A Fix

If you are missing data in the Google Search Console, you are not alone. Many are seeing Google skip over July 28, 2015 data in Search Analytics.     Google’s Search Console, formerly Google Webmaster Tools, is having a data issue with their Search Analytics report. Data for July 28 is missing from the report, and there are widespread reports of the issue. Although not everyone is affected, I am able to replicate the issue across my account. If you scroll over the Search Analytics chart, you will see it skip from July 27 to July 29, completely missing July 28. I created this animated GIF showing the issue: Gary Illyes from Google told me that Google is aware and is working on fixing the issue.  Ref: http://searchengineland.com/google-search-analytics-report-data-missing-google-working-on-a-fix-226791
